ODPC Evart Dulcimer Funfest

Osceola County Fairgrounds, 101 Recreation Ave, Evart, MI 49631

I'll be teaching, performing, and vending at this exciting festival held the third weekend in July. Known as the largest dulcimer festival out there, they have workshops, vendors, jams, and evening concerts. This three-day event is $10 a day or $20 for a three-day pass, kids 12 and under are free with an adult. (Camping is extra, see their website for details: (https://evartdulcimerfest.org/) Workshops cover hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, and many other folk instruments for all skill levels. This year I'll be teaching workshops for hammered dulcimer, as well as guitar and performing in the Friday night concert which starts at 6:30 PM.

Gebhard Woods Dulcimer and Traditional Music Festival

This two-day acoustic instrument festival in Illinois features workshops, concerts, and vendors in the lovely outdoor setting of a park. My first time at this festival, I've been invited to teach hammered dulcimer and guitar both days, perform in the Saturday concert series, and vend (also on Saturday). For more info see the festival website (https://www.gebharddulcimer.org/) where you can check out this year's performers, workshop schedules will be posted, and lots of helpful information and lodging options. Admission is a suggested donation of $20 for one day or $30 for both. It looks like it will be a great experience with the festival being listed "among TravelMag’s Best Festivals and Fairs in Illinois."

Come for a wonderful afternoon of music featuring the A.M.E.N. Chorus, the Women's Philharmonic Chorus, and the Bells of Peace Handbell Choir with Angela Warner directing. This concert is always amazing and so much fun, definitely a good option to put you in the Christmas spirit! I'll be playing guitar with the bells on one of their numbers as well as singing with the group choir. If you come early, you'll catch me playing a bit of hammered dulcimer in the lobby and a light jazz band playing a small pre-concert of holiday favorites. Entrance is free but a freewill offering/donation is encouraged.

This all-day event (10:00 AM-4:00 PM) hosted by the Friends of the Cadillac Library features authors from Michigan (including my sister Jayna Baas). The coordinators have invited me to come play the hammered dulcimer from noon to 1:00 PM during the event, in between author readings. I'll be playing mostly in the background, but will also be explaining the instrument and taking questions. If you get chance, stop by and see the action!

Midland Folk Music Festival

Midland County Fairgrounds, 6905 Eastman Ave, Midland

This is a small, friendly music festival featuring traditional folk instruments (such as fiddle, guitar, and dulcimer) held in Midland, MI at the fairgrounds there. I'll be teaching and vending and hopefully performing in the Saturday night concert. The entrance fee is $10 for both days (Midland Folk Music Society Members are $5) and camping is available for $25 a night, no reservations required.

The Ohio Valley Gathering features classes for folk instruments (including hammered dulcimer and guitar), vending, and evening concerts, as well as jam sessions. Lord willing, I'll be teaching two hammered dulcimer classes that feature hymns and the "Bass Runs for Everyone" guitar class, as well as performing both evenings.
